Sea Lion Shaped Candle Holder

Sea lion design inspiration

There is also a performance area in Xpark for parents and children to have fun together. There are two sea lions on display in the performance area. They belong to different species. The performing sea lions gave me inspiration.

The appearance of the sea lion ball gave me the idea of applying this design to the candle holder.

The picture shows a sea lion in the Xpark performance area, but the candle holder is not designed after this sea lion, but another one.

×Three stages of sketching×

▲First draft: It lacked a sense of theme, so I had to come up with a new design again.

▲Second draft: Screening out the designs that can be included.

▲Third draft: The final design - a sea lion-shaped candle holder.

×Pearl plate model trial production×

▲First trial: Because the center of gravity of the sea lion’s neck was too forward, the entire candle holder would tilt forward after the candle was placed on it, so the shape was adjusted.

▲Second attempt: After moving the center of gravity of the sea lion’s neck to the center of gravity of the whole body, the candle can be placed on it.

×Die cutter and finished product×

▲The die cutter has added a few more latches to the long strips that hold up the front and tail fins of the sea lion, making the whole structure more sturdy.

The die cutter size is A3, and the red line is o.oo28 Pt

▲Send the die cutter to the laser cutting machine for cutting, and then assemble the cut patterns into a sea lion candle holder.

*Because the MCP is very afraid of fire and water, the candle in the picture above is not lit.*
